Session 2: Facilities & Services

In session 2 of module 3, we will focus on facilities and practicalities that can arise and therefore need to be considered when developing and organizing a summer school.

This session will consist of a narrated PowerPoint’ [PPT-MP4] introducing the different topics regarding ‘summer school facilities and services’ from the experience already existing in the consortium.

Session topics include:

  • Housing
  • Visa and immigration
  • Support team
  • Venues
  • Catering
  • Transport and logistics
  • Online learning environment and social media
  • Umbrella themes

After working through the Power Point please have a look at this work book with various exercises to be completed as a group or individually. They can be discussed on the team forum.

At the end of this session, participants and teams should have:

  • A better idea of different facilities they could /should offer to participants
  • Exchanged ideas about the different facilities and capacities with their team and institution and have considered the pros and cons
  • Written down ideas about on what would/could work at their respective universities.
  • A clear idea to what extent they can offer facilities to their students.

During the Q&A session 2 there is time to dig deeper and discuss additions with the facilitator(s) of this session.
