Pretty similar in EA states, as Universities make own policies in line with national qualification frameworks
Uganda has the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), that requires that all Universities set quality assurance frameworks that align with it. The nitty grities are in institution supervision policies hosted under research or higher degrees departments.
As a novice supervisor, I am still yet to learn about these documents, policies and frameworks that exists. I look forward to engage and learn from them and from our experienced colleagues on this platform and in the workplace.
In Kenya, at national level, there the Commission for University Education which sets standards and ensures their implementation to ensure Quality of teaching and learning, and accreditation of institutions. At institutional level, there various documents anchored on the national policies and touch on the rules and regulations guiding postgraduate studies, research policy, etc
I am in agreement with my colleagues on the Kenyan regulations. Each university has a key role in developing their curriculum hence play a critical role in guiding their postgraduate policy documents.
University policies on plagiarism, rules and regulations of conduct of research, requirements by Commission for University Education which formulates University Standards and Guidelines.
In Kenya university education is centrally regulated by the Commission of Higher Education (CUE) which sets the standards of operation for the University
At the institution level, each university is committed to their individual Service Charter.
In RSA SAQA (South African Qualification Authority) at the top of all policies, it is a set of system that intergrates and recognise standards, register qualifications and part qualifications, verification of SAQA, recognition of professional bodies, evaluation of foreign qualification.
HEQSF (Higher Education qualification Sub- framework), it provides for the establishment of a single qualifications framework for higher education to facilitate the development of a single national corodinated higher education system.
NQF (National qaulification Framework) it sets the boundaries, principles, and guidelines, which provide a vision, a philosophical base and an organisational structure, and publication for the construction of a qualification system.
NDP 2030, the purpose is to educate people with high level skill for the vision 2030. -
